The Birth of Something Wonderful

The Birth of Something Wonderful

Today is traditionally the celebration of the birth of Jesus. I love that the world finds a way to do something completely together, even if some of us are calling it Kwanza and Chanukah. There is still a celebratory feeling moving throughout most lands. This oneness is a great feeling in consciousness because most of us are considering this day or these days a time of great distinction for peace and love and giving. As this is so, I believe it provides us all with a vision of what the world might look like if we had this truth in our heart for the entire year.

This birth that we celebrate can be a birth with in all of us—a new birth of something wonderful, new and exciting. We can all manifest more abundance, more love, more truth, more giving, treat ourselves to more receiving, and, in general, practice the art of staying inside our homes and enjoying our loved ones.

I think about the normal function of a day such as Christmas. The streets are bare. The stores are closed. Everyone is with the people we call family, whether it is extended family or just close friends. But we all take time to close down the world and be with the people we love. This is so important on a daily basis.I had a couple that was coming in for some coaching in their marriage. We decided that the main thing that was missing in their marriage was “daily” communication. They spoke on weekends, but for some reason the husband felt like the week was for making money and supporting the family. So, he got up on weekdays, barely communicated, went to work, came home, and fell asleep without saying a word to his wife. Then on the weekends would expect his wife to be completely present after he ignored her all week.

We are a society of people who believe in principals much like that family. We let our children play computer games all day and night, while we are workaholics, and then expect families to function on the weekends or on vacations as if they have been communicating their feelings all the time. Secure love and relationship is very much dependent upon the need to actually relate daily.

Dependency isn’t a bad thing when you are inter-dependent and securely dependent, relating to each other with the intent to truly know each other and thrive from the knowing.

So, let us delight in the beautiful gift we are given today of the template of the grand life of peace among men. We can feel it in our finger and toes. We can breathe it in the air. We sense it as the phone rings and one more person we haven’t spoken to for a while bids us a warm hello.

Make this day a day to remember in our hearts. Bring it forward more often than just December 25th. Call it up on August 3rd and May 25th. Buy someone you love a gift on a day that doesn’t matter. Call a friend and tell him/her that you love the presence they to your life—just because. Make peace be your daily prayer. Hold it in your heart for the entire world.

Loving What You Do and Doing What You Love

Loving What You Do and Doing What You Love

Most people come to my office and complain about not knowing their purpose in life. Some complain about being stuck in a job they hate. Some have to force themselves to get up everyday just to feed their families. Is this really the way we want to live a life that is ticking by so very quickly?

One day I woke up and said, “I’m not going to have one more boss tell me what to do. I’m tired of the business world. I want to do what God intended for me to do and do it independently. And so it is!”

I remember the day distinctly, because I was in a group called, “The Power Breakfast.” I loved that group. We would start out each meeting with everyone telling some wonderful thing that he/she accomplished that week. Then each would set out to do a purposeful act to get us moving toward our dream in life. I loved the idea that we created dreams together and felt responsible to each other if we didn’t accomplish what we set out to do. In fact, when the group first began, we actually had to pay $5 for every intent we did not do. Eventually, we decided not to be so legalistic.

Nonetheless, I still have all my journals from the five years I attended the group. I accomplished everything I set out to do during those times. I hate to say it, but I have fallen away from setting goals for my life lately. But I do have an great excuse.

My problem in life is that I was too goal oriented. One year my goal was to have no goals. I decided I was going to let Spirit lead me to my next endeavor. You would be surprised at how much I accomplished that year. It was a different year than the rest, but better in many ways. So, I have decided to be more living in the Now.

But the power of dreaming and visioning the future is strength when it comes to attaining something you want to come to pass. If you can dream it, sow the seeds, and water them daily, eventually you will have your dream. The dream might not be exactly what you expected, but it will come to pass—no questions asked.

I wanted to be an independent entrepreneur who did exactly what I wanted to do to make money. I wanted to live in a nice home, drive a nice car (a BMW to be exact), have a great relationship, and be healthy. But mostly, I wanted to feel as if my job was an expression of my spirit and soul daily. I definitely have all those things.

Each day I get up I could be teaching yoga, helping someone find his/her voice with vocal lessons. I could be helping a client quit a habit like smoking or eating excessively or releasing from anxiety or fear. I often take private clients who are injured and help them find ways to exercise and eat. I help people learn to meditate. I do life coaching (everything from fixing resumes to visions boards). I write books. I edit books. I write a daily blog, which I absolutely love and you are reading now. Yeah for you.

Basically, on any day, I could be teaching or doing anything that I am good at for money on my own time schedule at my own workspace. That’s what I call a free world!

Now, I have to say that it took some time to get to this place. It also took some working two and three jobs to make sure money to continued to flow when I was attracting new business. But eventually, my dream of being self-sufficient came to pass.

I believe you can have your dream too. If you need some help. Just ask. I’m here. I do coaching over the phone. I am in Nashville, Tennessee, if you want to make an appointment. Just look me up on the website. Namaste.
