Fear in America: Who Will Be Fired Next? #shineyourlight #spirituality #lovewins
January 11, 2017
Last night President Obama delivered his farewell speech:
“We must uphold laws against discrimination – in hiring, in housing, in education and the criminal justice system. That’s what our Constitution and highest ideals require. But laws alone won’t be enough. Hearts must change! Obama declared.
“For blacks and other minorities…, the immigrant, the rural poor, the transgender American, but also the middle-aged white man who from the outside may seem like he’s got all the advantages, but who’s seen his world upended by economic, cultural, and technological change,” Obama said.
He confided about his personal growth and urged each of us to look inside to find that place of strength to continue to insist on a better future for America. It was truly inspiring. He spent no time talking about Donald Trump, personally, but left us wondering how a tide sweeping toward the Right would change the framework of Democracy.

Continued from above:
He continued, “When minority groups voice discontent, they’re not just engaging in reverse racism or practicing political correctness; that when they wage peaceful protest, they’re not demanding special treatment, but the EQUAL treatment our Founders promised,” he continued.
He also warned that “stark inequality is also corrosive to our democratic ideas.”
Before this, I watched some of the CNN coverage of Jeff Session’s senate confirmation hearings. I noticed that when a republican member of the Senate questioned Sessions, answers were defined and precise. When a Democratic Senate member took the microphone to question Sessions, Jeff immediately began to use inflammatory words and got on the defensive. I had to wonder just how much of this man’s background was true and just how much he was trying to cover up. This all brought me to frustration. Finally, I turned off the television.
Fear is what permeated my heart in that moment. I had to step back and think about my own truth. No one likes change. We particularly don’t like change when it involves not getting our way. We are still spoiled children at heart, wanting what we can’t always have. We have the majority of Americans and people all around the world wondering WTF is going to happen in the coming days, weeks, and months. The mystery is what scares us.
Donald Trump is used to creating mystery. It is what sells tickets and keeps people watching. That’s how his television show, “The Apprentice” became so popular. “Who will be fired this time,” is what everyone in America wondered each week. Trump was the mean ogre that would fire someone each week. Do we still have the fear of that uncompassionate boss who cares only about the bottom line?
Does this mystery (Trump not talking to the public or holding a press conference for 56 days) cause the entire country to wonder what is going to happen to all of us? Are we going to be fired, metaphorically? Is everything we worked for in the past eight years going to be taken from us? Who will be our ally in a government where the Republicans are trying to take away even our checks and balances? Are Putin and Trump in bed together?
Will the media stand up to this—for us? Will a revolution take place? Will more unseemly murders take place in personal revolts against the great demagogue?
I for one say this to myself in times of fearful thoughts like this:
Even in the face of not knowing what tomorrow might bring, who or what do I believe really is in control of the world? Personally, I believe Spirit has ultimate control. What happens to us is an out-picturing or an expression of the undercurrent of frustration, a pain-inflicted society and the earth itself feels.
The question isn’t: what will happen tomorrow? The real questions is: How will I face whatever happens tomorrow?
The answer to that question is:
I will face every day with the light that I know I am. I will stand on Truth and not let anyone take away my right to Truth and being the authentic Spiritual Person I am and intend to continue to be. No one can do that.

What would you feel like if everyday you loved yourself a little more…
What would you be if you loved and gave compassion unconditionally… to yourself first and then to others?
If you could imagine yourself so connected to God Source that everything you thought and every action you completed you trusted could heal yourself and, ultimately the world around you?
