Pure Peace of Mind

Peace is a stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when there’s no fighting or war, everything coexists in perfect harmony and freedom.

In our war-torn world, it seems like there’s not nearly enough peace. However peace can be big and small, seen in entire countries or brief moments within us. When you feel at peace with yourself, you are content to be the person you are, flaws and everything.

The definition above represents the microcosm and macrocosm of peace. When we see peace in our mind, no matter what happens in the world, we can maintain the power of peace.

With so many disturbances in the world and mass shootings and ISIS, how can we maintain a picture of peace in our minds?

Continued from above:

I came home from walking my dog, yesterday, to 3 text messages. Each of them asked if I were safe from the shooting at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. I turned on the television to find that a psychologically challenged man went on a shooting rampage—again! I sent kind e-mails texts back to my friends, but was a little unwound by the disturbance.

Instead of getting upset or scared, I did what most people don’t do… I got quiet and asked myself this question: What are you scared of? An interesting answer floated to the top of my mind:

I’m frightened that the world is coming to an end, and I’m not part of the solution. I felt I wasn’t doing enough to be a light. I imagined, for a moment, that negativity was winning. For that, I was scared.

After seeing what was going on in my mind, I called someone whom I knew would help me get back to center and again feel my peace. He was a person I consistently pray with and felt comfortable sharing my fear.

He took the reigns and led me into a prayer that brought me back to my truth, which is:

I know that I’m protected by God’s angels. I also know that I am listening and directed by Spirit. So, I will never be in harm’s way whenever I stay focused on Source. My friend reminded me of these beliefs we share.

By the time we hung up, I turned off the television and prayed for those who were hurt and hurting. That was the best I could do at that moment.

In conclusion, to maintain peace of mind, you can:

  1. Get Quiet!
  2. Do some self-inquiry about what is bothering you;
  3. When you discover your problem, you can reach out for help;
  4. You can remember and restate to yourself what you believe is your truth; and
  5. Ultimately, you can do what you were meant to do, be the light that you are.
