Most non-cooks look at a skillet full of vegetables and wonder how could they possibly put this beautiful mixture together. The truth is that the #stir-fry is one of the simplest of dishes you could prepare.
Take your 3-4 favorite vegetables and cut them into bite size pieces and fry them in skillet on medium high so they cook fast and quick, maintaining a vast amount of nutrition and keeping the crispness of the vegetables.
If you are not sure what to add to the stir-fry to make it taste better than just vegetables fried, here’s an easy list. The most common ingredients for flavor are:
Garlic (crushed or garlic granules),
Ginger slices thin or grated,
Soy sauce or Tamari (add one teaspoon at a time. The taste of soy can over power a stir-fry very quickly, and
A small amount of sesame oil (optional)
Chili paste, if you like hot and spicy, (again, a 1/2 teaspoon at a time).
IMG_1132 The onions you can begin to fry from the beginning, as when onion gets a bit of sear, they often bring out more flavor to the entire dish.
The trick to a good stir-fry is to add the sauce (the soy sauce, ginger, garlic, chili paste) after about 3-4 minutes of frying, then the spices don’t burn or over power the vegetables.
If you want a white sauce, leave out the soy sauce and simply use salt and white pepper. If you want a robust sauce, add thick soy sauce (you can find it in most Asian grocery stores) and some Garlic-Chili paste (also at the same Asian store).
We are fortunate these days, most of the spices I used to have to go to specialty store for are on the shelf in the Oriental Section for Stir-fry.

If you waited on line at a fast food joint for takeout, you would be waiting 2-3 hours for your food and you would sorely disappointed in the quality and the vitamin content.

With the correct shopping list, including the right spices that you will need for most of my food, most meals on my list of lessons will take less than the time it would take you to orderout.
The cost will be almost 50-90% less than what it costs to go out.
Let’s Look at Nutrition!

I can tell you right now, that if you are going to any drive-thru, you are not going to get nutrition. In fact, you will probably get lots of fried food and items that have many chemicals added to keep them fresh. Do you remember the movie Super Size It? The French Fries from McDonalds lasted for 2 years and looked almost exactly as they did when they were bought. This is not something I would want in my stomach, nor should you want it in any of your family’s stomach.
Buying fresh vegetables and fruit is actually one of the easiest thing to prepare. You simply need to know what to do to make your food look and taste amazing. That’s why I’m going to do. If you are trying to fit an new food model into what most of our mothers made for us as kids, you will not last a week without feeling bored by your food.
