My Strongest Weakness!

We all have places in our lives that cause us distress and anxiety. Diet, exercise, lust, sex, overworking, laziness, inability to finish something are just a few of the big issues. Why do we let these thorns in the flesh temporarily take away our power and how do we avoid falling into their traps?

In his book “The Obstacle Is the Way,” Ryan Holiday writes:

When is the last time you saw a monster of an obstacle before you—scary, hairy and grinning like a son of a bitch—and cowered into the fetal position, cursing and intimidated?

If you’re a human being here on planet Earth, it probably hasn’t been too long. It could have been last week. Hell, it may have been this morning.

So here’s a thought:

What if those monsters were not, in fact, monsters at all? What if those obstacles were actually your best friends, your wisest teachers, your greatest allies?

What if instead of hating your obstacles, you learned to love them?

Continued from above:

“Human behavior is predictable and therefore controllable!”
(F. Skinner)

Holiday continues:

“I learned most about myself during the absolute  worst moments. Times of loneliness (I realizing my fear of rejection was holding me back). Times of extreme sadness (I admitted how irrationally dependent I was on certain people). In times of heartbreak (I secretly wished a bus would hit me and remove the ache).

This is ugly stuff to admit. Obstacles that force us to feel these things expose our core intent—which can be scary if we don’t like what we see.

The good news is: Once we’ve revealed our darkest demons, we can begin dealing with them.”

Fear is an illusion. It will always be an illusion until the love and compassion within you shines bright enough to squelch the negativity under your heels. This doesn’t happen when you avoid your greatest fears.

This happens when you face and overcome them!

How do we begin on this seemingly daunting stride toward a better and healthier future?

  1. Realize that risk is better than doing nothing. The worst that could happen in trying is that you could fail. Failure is just a sign that you actually tried. Perhaps, we all need to redefine failure in our mind as a positive movement forward. All of the greatest minds in the world tried and experimented many times before a great result happened. Don’t be afraid to TRY!
  2. Start with small risks. Gain a stride with overcoming your fears. You will realize that risking and overcoming in small ways is very much the same as risking largely in life. Do you think that huge investors started out investing millions of dollars? No, they began with pocket change and built their empires with small risks. They risked more and more as they achieved and proved to their minds that their risks were positive actions. Risk is part of success.
  3. Plan your future. See the finished product. In your dreams don’t look at the perceived obstacles. Just see dreams complete and in detail. Take time every day to dream Big!
  4. When you come to an obstacle, don’t just dive in to change the obstacle without being quiet first. Remember, that inside of your mind is Divine Mind. There is only One Mind. This Mind holds all of the answers to every problem. If you take time to be quiet long enough, the answers will unfold. Be patient and never proceed without getting the go-ahead from your heart.

Love yourself today! Love is the gift to the soul that always brings an amazing, healing result.

Moving into the White House #dreambig

How big should your dreams be? When I was a child, I dreamed of being the president. I’d assume that many children have imaginations that could reach far beyond an adult’s. But, life takes us on a course where we quickly learn that dreams have to be earned. We also get the idea that prayer should be ask and get, somewhat like what it was like with a parent when we were children. We asked for food, clothes, bicycles. Like magic, it appeared before us for many years.

Unlike most children, I ended up cooking for 5 brother and sisters and a father at the age of eight. I even baked bread and cupcakes for school lunches, because we were poor. As a result of having to work so hard to get along, I developed a work ethic that, sometimes, I can barely believe. I write or edit, most days, for 4-5 hours. The book I’m currently working on, the first draft was done in a month. I simply dream big, work hard, and the rest is up to God, Spiritual Law, and the powers that make things happen in the world.

Last night, at fifty-three, I dreamed that Barack Obama was helping me move my belongings to the White House. For a long time, I have been praying and seeking for a life that would have more purpose, for my books to go viral, and for finances to be in a place where I no longer would have to be concerned. As I prayed, though, the manifestation of my prayers didn’t come in big ways—they came in small parcels. I believe this is so, because, I have been planting my dreams in a small pot, not in the vastness of nature where they can grow as large and as big as a Redwood tree. The vision of the president helping me move is metaphor for transplanting my dreams to a bigger place, a place of authority!

When we pray knowing that we are an individualization of the Creator of all, the most abundant Resource, and the destiny of all destinies, then we realize that our dreams, too, are part of that vast greatness. We can declare our dreams to the subjective mind (the place in spirit where all begins as a seed thought). Then we can easily let the Law of Spirit Divine take our dreams and grow them into the largest tree in the forest. As moving our dreams to the White House is the next step.

Dream Big with me this week, as we share our power of prayer to help each other manifest larger, greater, purposeful lives.

Coming Up: I’ll be speaking more about how to pray—not what to think, but HOW to think effectively, to change your life!

WALT DISNEY FIRED? #dreaming #inspiration #movingforward #ambitions

In 1919, Walt Disney got fired from the Kansas City Star newspaper. According to his editor, he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” This wasn’t Walt’s only struggle before he met with Hollywood and became a billionaire. Disney acquired Laugh-O-Gram, an animation studio, which he led into bankruptcy. Even J.K. Rolling, the author of the famous Harry Potter series got fired from a secretary job for daydreaming, probably about her first bestseller.

What is the difference between failure and great ambition? Failure basically means you stop trying. Having great ambition means you continue to move toward your amazing destiny. Here are some steps to take to make sure your best in life happens:

  1. Dream big! No one ever made it to anything grand without having a huge dream to manifest in life. Just because your life looks less than your dreams, doesn’t mean you are a failure. This simply means that you haven’t gotten to your destiny yet.
  2. Take steps to move toward your dream. When I wake up in the morning with a big idea in my head, the first action I take is get on the computer and write it down. If I’m in bed, I keep a journal next to the bed and make sure I put pen to paper. Dreams are in the vast ephemeral universe for all to take part. So, if you don’t move in on an idea, someone else will quickly scoop it up.
  3. Small steps are steps, nonetheless. If you wanted to lose weight, I would say just getting to the gym was a great step. Even if you sit in the wet area and steam and sweat a bit without ever working out, you have made one great stride toward your goal.
  4. Keep changing your goals to make forward movement. If you wanted to lose weight and decided the only step you had to take was get to the gym, then you would never begin to exercise. Now that you have taught yourself to actually get to the gym, make a new goal. This time the goal is do one exercise on one piece of equipment. I guarantee you, if you begin on one piece of equipment, you will continue on to another. This is the nature of conquering fear and manifesting in any area of your life.
  5. Make alternate plans if your first plan doesn’t work. Not every great plan comes into fruition. You can write a novel, have 4000 friends ready to come to your book launch. Then, the Nashville Flood can happen. You can write a spellbinding mystery about a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The book may be bought by a big publisher. Then, six months later, 9-11 happens. Both stories happened to authors. One was I.

Ultimately, the concept is to dream big. But you can’t stop there. You have to take baby steps forward, according to the leading of your heart. If you feel you need to do something in your life. Then, chances are you should move in that direction. The wise Master Jesus said to make a blueprint first before you begin. Don’t leap into buying a business, without looking at the financials. Learn to listen to the wise physician in your brain, who wants to heal everything in your life! Then take slow, methodic steps toward your dreams!
