Accepting Your Purpose #EdwardSnowden #HelenKeller #NewThought

Helen Keller said: “Life is either a great adventure, or nothing at all!” She didn’t say to life and to God, “I’m deaf, dumb, and blind, and I have nothing more to feel but pity for myself. No, she learned to speak and became a profound orator. Edward Snowden has made his purpose perfectly clear to the world. His moxie and poise about his recent desire to expose undercover operations in the US, in my estimation, is the meaning of defined purpose. What exactly is keeping you from your Dynamic Purpose today?

Before you lay a panacea of opportunity, adventure, and love, just waiting for you to accept the challenge with open arms. More importantly, though, you must step forward into the next moment of your life with faith that God and Spirit are on your side, helping you to find to your life’s purpose. Otherwise, why else would we be here on this earth?

When I look around me at the crime, the problems, the killing of innocent people and children, the tsunamis and world disasters, I quickly understand that life isn’t about the ephemeral. What isn’t permanent passes away as soon as it manifests. Life must have a greater meaning. For that reason, I press on to my next day and my next moment, knowing my heart will lead me to life’s ultimate goals and purposes—for me.

I don’t know if each of our lives holds one great purpose. For me, life has been many small purposes. Maybe, one day, all of these small purposes will lead me to a greater purpose. I’m comfortable, however, with being spoon-fed through the tough moments and being given what I have today to the world and to the people led to my life.

I believe you have to be open to your life’s purpose, too, to make the most out of your life. If you’re a garbage collector, then make sure you listen for the call of Spirit to lead you to be the perfect and most affable garbage collector you can be. Maybe, some day soon, you will rise above the position and look back at your days of collecting garbage with a metaphor about life only you could share.

Most people are interested in getting their work into the hands of a large companies and publishers to create the biggest impact. I was, too, for a long time. Then, one day, I realized that for most of my life, I have sat on my gifts and kept them hidden on a nested folder on my laptop. No one gets the benefit of all my hard work as a writer, if 2/3 of my work is lying dormant on my computer, just because some big publisher didn’t think I had a big enough platform to make an impact for their company.

Maybe I’m not supposed to make a big splash now. Maybe I’m supposed to start with a small ripple. That ripple will move out into the ocean of life and become a wave. That wave may someday splash onto the shore of life with a large impact in God’s perfect timing. But, what’s important is that I decide my purpose. What is in mind, manifests in kind.

If you believe you have nothing to share with the world, you will share nothing. If you believe that God created you with an individual talent and special cause, you will some day manifest that cause in a way that is meant for whomever God intended it. Yes, we cannot make people believe in our causes, buy our products, books, CDs, and art. But we can continue to create and speak and believe, because we are made in the image of Creator God. Therefore, we are meant to manifest in this world and wonderful and adventurous ways.

Now, go out and be who you are meant to be today!

Be Heard! #findingyourvoice

Most times in Life Coaching and often in therapy, underneath every problem is a need to be understood and heard. Some part of you hasn’t gotten to have its say or have an opinion. So, this means that you have stuffed down what you feel into a place that can no longer manage holding your pain. This way of managing your thoughts and feelings can only lead to anxiety, stress, and most times addiction. So, first thing on your list of “to do’s” today: Find a way to be heard!

For me, I write. I have found a considerable amount of thrill in the ability to be completely transparent as a writer. Often, I will give my clients the exercise to simply write to a person he or she is angry with. Start with the words! Express yourself in a way that shares exactly what you feel. I wouldn’t recommend sending that version of your feelings to anyone. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend sending an email or a letter to anyone you have harsh or hurt feelings with. This is what telephones and visits are for. In this age of social media, we too often send off a flippant e-mail or letter, then, we actually give away our power in the doing.

When you have no response from someone who has hurt you, after you have exposed your feelings, often, the result can be worse than expressing your feelings. No, you need to get in there and face your demons. Now, if your anger is with someone who has passed on, then you have the option of finding a surrogate person, often a therapist, to share your hurt with. In hypnosis, sometimes we can imagine so deeply that you face your antagonist that, when you awake from your trance, you feel as if something deeply has changed in your subconscious mind around the hurtful situation.

Being heard is a great goal today. Find a way to simply let someone know how you feel. This may be a person you have been wanting to meet, a friend who has been sucking away your energy, or a family member who has taken advantage of you. Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, tell someone today how good they have made you feel, as well. If someone in the service industry does something extraordinary and has gone out of his/her way to make me feel welcome, taken care of, or has been compassionate; often, I will tell them they have made my day or a tell one of the supervisors of the great work. This can change someone else’s day complete. You’ll find that the more you do this good kind of sharing, the better people treat you. With what measure you give out, you shall also receive.

Stand up for Yourself and the World

I have been working on my new interactive website in which you will be able to go to the site after reading a blog and find a Daily Spiritual Challenge. I will be releasing a book at the same time called: Finding Authentic You: 7 Steps to Effective Change—Spirit, Mind and Body. I’m also going to start a group that meets once a week to follow the Year to CLEAR CHALLENGE (Clear is an acronym meaning Compassion-Love-Enthusiasm, And Relationship-Ready). I have about two more months, maybe three, to get the website done. I had no idea how big of a project this would be. I simply answered the call from spirit one day to start. I didn’t take time to think. I just followed the lead.

I guess this is my point today. If we step into life looking at our challenge to make change, get a degree, find relationship, buy a home or a business, as something monumental and huge, we are not likely to step forward onto the path. But if we simply take one step at a time, we are bound to find our calling, even on the pathway to our goal.

I worked on a Daily Challenge yesterday called “Gray Marriage.” The reading talked of how politics tries with all its might to get into the middle of what should be an intimate decision. Who is with me here? Can you decide for me whom is the right person to be intimately involved with? So, why are so many politicians trying to make sexuality a platform? It simply annoys me.

The most important aspect of change is to be able to clear the way for your positive, strong voice. Most people come to me barely able to express how they feel. But my duty is to help them clear the pathway between their heart and throat chakra to share with friends, family, and intimate partners how they really feel.

However, one thing that I emphasized in this Daily Challenge was about the ability for us to step out of our comfort zone and share our positions and truths with people who oppose our thinking. This doesn’t have to be about sexuality. It could be about human rights in general.

For instance: Someone at work makes a slur about a Muslim woman. She wears a niqab to work every day. Someone in the kitchen drinking a cup of Joe with you casually make a racial slur while conversing. Instead of smiling and swallowing your emotions with the next sip of your coffee, you simply say: “You know, Aadila is a nice woman and a hard worker. I’m not comfortable with your prejudiced remarks, especially in the work place. In fact, did you know that her first name means honest, equal and upright?”

There, you’ve said it. You have cleared the path to changing the world, one person at a time. Most people just don’t speak up when confronted with a situation like that. We can’t be mousy and spiritual at the same time. Being humble and at peace takes clearing the dross from your mind and heart to stay at one with your good. If you continue to ingest other people’s opinions and feelings without sharing yours, you will never stay on the pathway to peace.

A balance exists between being outspoken and saying your piece/peace. Own your opinion by always beginning with “I feel,” or “it occurs to me…” or “I think that…” If you don’t accuse anyone of bad behavior, you are more likely to make a stronger point. Tell that person your feelings; don’t blame her for hers.

No one likes to be told what to do, especially if he/she already has a chip on the shoulder about a certain culture. We don’t know what kind of experience he has had in the past to cause him to feel this strongly. Perhaps, his brother was in one of the buildings of the World Trade Center. Suddenly, that would make all of his opinions understandable, yet still not right. So, tread with caution, but don’t allow others to take away your power—ever!
