Portals to Happiness!

Many people believe that there are many paths to happiness: money, love, sex, drugs, a bevy of friends, hard work, prayer, meditation, spirituality, etc. I could go on and on. The truth is that there is only one door to happiness.

When we recognize that we are an infinite spirit, housed in a finite body, this is the first step to walking through the door toward peace and happiness.

There was a client who came to me riddled with cancer. She fought through the storms in her life to maintain health for a little over 1o years. She discovered, though, a week before our visit that the cancer had metastasized. She was told she didn’t have long to live… perhaps 6 months.

As we talked about it, a peculiar smile spread over her face. I didn’t understand, so I asked her why she was smiling.

She replied, “I have had a good life. Yes, there were struggles. But mostly I have had peace in the past 10 years. Everyday since I first found out I had cancer, I had promised myself to live this present day as if it were my last—never looking back with regret. I feel fortunate to have had 10 years to live freely and unrepressed by my past and fear. I have lived a life that most people never live in just these past 10.”

I asked her, “So, what do you think the secret to happiness is?”

She responded, “First, take care of the loose ends in your life. Fire those who don’t benefit you and have been dragging you down! Get rid of all that no longer serves you! Then you must must must STAY focused on the present.

No happiness exists in the future or in the past. Happiness is happening right here and now. Make friends with all that is in your life now, whether you perceive it to be good or bad. Make laws against living in what you can not change. Float on your human life, as if you were sailing in a boat led by the winds of grace!”

This conversation left me speechless. Even though she was a client, I couldn’t speak for a few minutes. She understood that every session was for the healing of the One Mind that we both share.

I hope this helps you live within the fullness of your life today.

What Stands in Your Way? #happiness #prosperity #findingpeace #spirituality

If we believe that we are made of the very substance of the ever-growing universe, the abundant ocean, the silent desert, the beauty of an exotic orchid, and the energy of the sun, then why are we not embracing our good? Something must be inhibiting our happiness, prosperity, peace, and spiritual connection, if we do not currently perceive it, use it, and manifest it. So, what could possibly stand in the way of an All-Powerful God?

As in all paradoxes, we must unhook from the logic and sit apart from the circumstance to challenge our minds to find the answer. For me, I start with changing the question. If God and I are one, as the Master Jesus taught, then I must be doing something… thinking something… or praying amiss… because, at present, I am not exhibiting the peace, wisdom, and prosperity of a child of the Creator.

So, I go back to those great masters of spirituality and walk with them on their paths to peace and knowledge. I listen to the words of those who have found oneness with God and begin to reflect upon how different my walk is from theirs. You may think this is a logical beginning. However, imagining the truth and walking on the path to truth is quite difficult in a world that could cover our days with duties, trials, work, and challenges that encompass our entire mind. With a 12-hour a day job, 2 children, and a house to tend to, when are we to sit quietly in a world that give us no time for such peace?

My friends, it has taken me 55 years to say this. If you do not accept the challenge of owning your life and your choices, you will never become a responsible spiritual man or woman. Yes, a flood of daily duties are set before us to see what we will choose. Will you wake up an hour before the rest of the family to read a little, meditate, ask for guidance for the day, and write in your journal, or will you delight in that one extra hour of sleep, because you are totally exhausted?

What I have found is that releasing that one hour of sleep feels as if it is multiplied by ten when I take the time for peace to enter into my being during meditation. Think of contemplation as a time for divine guidance to accompany you during the day.

If you knew that all of the angels in the universe could change the course of the day so that you would flow with traffic, be directed to your chores in a way where they could be done with ease, and that all of the wisdom of the universe was on your side by meditating, would you—could you—choose NOT to meditate and pray?

I get more done everyday by being led than I ever have by parcing out my duties and letting them bog me down. When I release my life to positive universal force that want to work with me, I not only get my chores done, but I gain spiritual insight while doing them. When I put myself in the place of being open to spiritual insight, then I automatically become at peace.

Here is a prime example of this. One morning I meditated. After the meditation, I felt completely at peace. On the way to work, though, I got in a car accident. It was not major, but it did rattle me for a second. When I parked my car on the side of the road, assessed the damage, and dealt with the matters at hand, instead of bitching about my situation, I wondered, instead, why my path had been altered that day. I became acutely aware of my next steps, because I believed that all things were happening in my favor.

I did not complain. I ended up making a friend of the person who collided with me. She was so amazed that I was not furious with her and the situation that she asked me how I attained such peace. As a result, she ended up becoming a coaching client (gaining prosperity). She was a woman of means and did not want me to take out a claim with my insurance, so she paid in cash for all of my out-of-pocket expenses, which included $500 out of my pocket for my deductible and a rental car (more prosperity). The experience ended up leading me to many new paths, because I was awake for them (peace of mind and spiritual insight). I did not see life or the NOW as something that was to be fought against. I saw it as a flowing energy that I needed to become a part of to experience peace (releasing tension).

I hope you can see the difference. This entire circumstance came from taking the daily time to meditate and memorize the life patterns of peace. It’s only with daily practice that you can allow for these patterns to manifest in your life.

The Question No One Wants to Answer? #overcominganxiety #loveismydecision #spiritualadvice #psychology

Only one question exists that can change your happy, enriched heart to a clumsy, anxious one: “Why am I not good enough… to find a loving relationship, to find a satisfying job, to get rich, to have nice friends, to live in a beautiful home?” You name the outcome you don’t have. The question will always be the same.

I have asked myself this question thousands of times. When someone breaks up with me, when I don’t get the part, when I don’t make enough money to support my life, when a friend goes awry, or when family matters blow up in my face, the question is always the same. Why am I not Joe down the street who seems to have everything: the beautiful home, the perfect marriage, the swimming pool in the backyard, the job he loves to go to everyday, and the family that seems to be arriving with gifts every time I look out of the window? Why is he so blessed and, me… why am I not good enough, smart enough, fortunate enough to have all that he has?

I had spent most of my life chasing rainbows. I received a better degree. I wrote the novel everyone told me to write, because it would make me a million bucks. I sought out the popular friends. I hung with the pretty people. I neglected anyone in my family with problems. I basically thought that the way to happiness was to have things, be prettier, socialize with the elite, and avoid all the things that cause me anxiety.

What was the outcome? More anxiety than I could imagine.

When you enter into this kind of paradigm, you realize that life never provides enough. Despite the beautiful things surrounding you, you strive to make more, work more, and, yet, you have less time for the people who really love you. Things can’t measure happiness. We all know that in our heart of hearts, but we still keep striving toward satisfying that blessed ego.

Trust me, I have to remind myself daily that the world was created and is supported by Love and Source. I am one in and as that Source. I already have within me everything I need for happiness. In fact, no one, no thing, no job can fulfill that part of my heart that seems empty, because that part is not empty at all. My ego only perceives that it’s empty, which makes me anxious to fill it. I was never empty. I have never been void of all the love I need to be content and secure.

I used to envy the monks who would sit for days with nothing but the clothes on their backs and meditate in total bliss. What am I missing, I would think? My particular thorn in the flesh was that I thought that a fulfilling relationship would satisfy my heart and release me from my pain. Well, as long as I had someone loving to tend to, dote on me, and socialize with, yes, I was content. But when relationship ultimately has its problems, then suddenly, you realize that happiness is not relationship. This is a cold, hard fact. But, I faced one relationship’s demise after another then finally I understand. No one person can add or subtract from the perfect love that is already mine and always has been mine.

I recently dealt with a break-up. Surprisingly, I didn’t cry one tear. In fact, besides some of the angry and hurtful moments, my thoughts were more eschewed toward this: What am I missing here? What can I bring to this moment to make room for love to express through me? What is the gift this moment can bring?

When I got honest with myself, I realized that anger only made me not think about my own hurt and disappointment. These feelings I had to face realistically. As I faced them and changed my hurt into micro-intentions (praying for the opposite of my painful feeling for someone in need), I realized that love never stopped.

I looked around me and noticed all of the people that Love had attracted to my life. Smiling knowingly, I realized that I am good enough, not because I have a degree or stay in shape or have any material thing. I am good enough because I am one with the power that created the universe. How can I want anything more than that?

When you understand this, no matter what your circumstance, you OWN THE ROOM!
