Living Without Fear: Is It Possible? #Fearless #Urbach-Wiethe #DivineMind #ScienceofMind #SpiritualLiving

Four hundred people in the world have a rare brain disorder that keeps them from experiencing fear. Urbach-Wiethe disease destroys both sides of the amygdala, because of a rare calcification to that area of the brain, composed of two structures, the shape and size of almonds. This calcification prevents the person from experiencing fear of any kind—from poisonous snakes to a razor-sharp knife at his throat to anxiety resulting from bad memories.

At first glance, one would think that to get rid of fear might be the greatest gift of all. But, these 400 people have to stay very secluded and keep their disease hidden from the public, because they are very likely to be in harm’s way and be manipulated by people who know their problem.

People generally riddled with undue anxiety would think, I’d rather stay at home and be protected than have to deal with the scary, negative thoughts that flood my mind almost constantly. Maybe there is a happy medium between being anxiety-ridden and having no fear at all.

Having power and security over any situation usually takes education. When I share with a client any simple steps to overcome anxiety, sometimes the client is overwhelmed at the simplicity of something that changed his or her entire life in just a moment. Often, when teaching anyone a new idea, people are amazed and astonished they hadn’t thought about the idea before. When we open our minds to learning, we often open our minds to freedom.

To have fear, you must create a story about fear in your mind. For instance, if you see a bear in your front yard that looks as if it may kill you, you must have known that bears kill. Having a story about bears being deadly produced the fear when you saw the bear. Whereas, the person with Urbach-Wiethe disease retains no story of fear, because she never experienced fear on any level. So, no adrenaline flows from the brain to the body to quicken her to run, race her heart, and get her the hell out of Dodge, before the bear has her for breakfast. In this case, having fear is a good thing. But, if you continue to think about that bear for the rest of your life and have nightmares and daydreams about that fear, you will eventually have an anxiety disorder around this issue.

You can use this simple premise in your daily life by reducing the amount of time you spend on your stories about fear. Remember this simple quotient: (Time + Story = Fear). So, if I you are afraid of bears and heard your mind starting to tell you a story about your fear, you would simply shut down the story. “Simple?” you say. “If it would have been this easy, I would have done it long ago.” The problem is not that you hadn’t tried to shut down the story. The problem is that you do not know how to shut down the story. You must inhibit the part of the brain that fantasizes about the past fear.

A good way to do this is to ask yourself a question that you know has a positive answer. The part of the brain that asks and answers questions, is not the same part of the brain that fantasizes about fear. For example, in a fearful moment, I might ask myself, “How do I know that ocean and the beach always makes me feel calm?” Then, I would begin to recite the answer, either out loud of in my mind. If the fear is still lingering, I may be prepared with more questions, until I simply forget about my old story.

It is also possible to stop your mind from thinking anything at all (as in the way of deduction). But this takes a great amount of practice, through meditation, usually. I have found that I can stop a story and keep my mind blank, but imagining that light is flowing into my brain and vanquishing all thoughts completely. So, visualization is often a great enhancer for changing the thought process, as well. I shut down the story by imagining a light greater than my fear (a God light) beaming into my brain and destroying all of the negativity.

Find & Replace Inhibiting Factors to Prosperity and Growth #overcomingfear #anxiety #spiritualadvice

As I walk my dog, Coco, every morning, I usually say my Morning Prayer or treatment. I gaze up into the dawn sky and, immediately, feel the majesty of Source. I don’t have to conjure any thankfulness or gratitude for the beauty of this moment. I simply take in the exquisite panorama of all that encompasses me.

What I noticed this morning was that all things around me move forward in nature—expanding, engaging in the stages of growth, and doing all of this without fear. If I am one in and as Source, then I must also be a conduit of the ever-expanding power of Source living, moving, and breathing all around me. I’m faced, though, with the human problem of fear. Fear stops all movement and growth in me. So, how do I remove the inhibitor of fear?

Brain vs. Mind

Fear resides in the brain, not in the mind. Fear is born of humanity. The mind, however, is born of Source and has no constraints. The brain is a human object of gray matter with neural pathways set up to either constrain us or liberate us. Our minds are infinite, bearing the resemblance of Divine Mind, constantly creating and expanding like the universe.

Most people have not had ideal childhoods. So, in the human brain are many neural pathways connected to fear, like electrical connections set up to cause a myriad of mostly negative reactions. Can we help that when we connect with something from our past or even a recollection of some negativity that fear floods the frontal cortex of the brain and consumes us?

The answer is maybe. I know no one wants to hear that the possibility of ridding the dreaded fear and anxiety from our lives is a big maybe. But, I write the truth. I say, maybe, because not many people have the wherewithal and the moxie to continue to grow spiritually and mentally throughout their entire lives. But it takes consistent and repeated efforts to capture and annihilate fear with the power of Divine Consciousness. In other words, a greater mind exists than the one in your human head. To rid your self of fear is to connect with that greater mind and stay in its perfect peace, instead of in the human consciousness, born of fear.

The Apostle Paul said to take every thought into captivity. I know many people don’t like Paul because of some of his views about so many different “sins” and his ideas of sin consciousness. But, Paul did have some wisdom when he spoke about overcoming the thorn in his own flesh. No one knows what his thorn was, but not knowing that nature of the thorn makes the apostle’s advice generic, in nature. Any thorn in the human flesh—any problem with our humanity—requires us to take every thought into captivity and do self-inquiry, exchanging the painful thoughts for Universal Conscious thoughts. You may know some of these Universal thoughts as affirmations. Affirmations are truths that cannot be denied.

This morning, as I walked Coco and prayed, I checked my mind for fear. I felt some resistance around prosperity. In that moment, I took the thought of lack into captivity, released it to Source, and exchanged my negative thought for the idea that my mind would much rather grow and expand than be inhibited by fear. In that moment, I connected my human mind with a great belief—a universal law that I believe wholeheartedly. So, in that moment, I felt a grand release from my soul. My consciousness merged with the Divine for a moment.

Now, as I go throughout my day, I will remember this moment and bring it back to mind whenever any fears of lack come into my human consciousness. Find and Replace!

Interview Help with Character Keys! #jobinterview #auditioning #psychology

I took a wonderful workshop yesterday that I believe could help in any kind of interview, audition, or even dealing with getting over fear in a dating situation. The concept is called Character Key.

Basically, the concept is this: simply pick a character that you know very well, and imagine saying or doing your audition, interview, or dating conversation as that person or animal even (cats are a great I don’t care image what you think image).

For instance, I had an audition where I supposed to be a football lover and hanging out with a bunch of smoking, drinking dudes. This is so far off from my reality. So, I picked a character key, a person in my life whom I know dearly, my brother-in-law, who is a football coach. When I went into the audition, I used his very specific, interesting ways he talks and move his body. As I practiced, I mastered trying to be like him. But, what really happens is that I do a bad impression of him and add my own self to the mix, which creates a great new character.

When I got in to the audition space, I nailed the copy the first time. I had no fear either, because my mind about speaking and doing from another person’s point of view.

Now, I know that usually I’m always looking for ways to be more authentically you, but sometimes fear gets in the way. This is a trick, in times when you have anxiety, to get beyond it with ease and purpose. I’d highly recommend it.

As an acting coach said to me once: “Find your Inner Depp!” Which meant, find your Johnny Depp within, because Johnny is known in the industry as being one of the greatest actors ever.
