The creative medium is always subject to the mind creating it. If you were the creator (the carpenter in this metaphor), the wood and nails you use to build (the creative medium) is subject to your mind. The creative medium does not have a will of its own.
However, many people in prayer think that the subjective ether (the creative medium of spirit) has its own will. Some would rather leave the decisions of their lives up to the wood and nails, in other words. This is why their prayers are ineffective.
Let’s take a clearer look at the process of creating something in your life, building your dream. You desire a new job, one that will not only give you financial stability, but will add to the joy of your soul. You begin to pray about this new job that actually exists for you in the subjective ether (the creative energy waiting to be used by you as a Co-Creator with Spirit). However, in your prayer you say to the creative medium, “You know better than I what I want to create. You give me the job according to your will and design.”
This would like the carpenter arriving at work early one morning, sitting near the stockpile of industrial material and saying to it, “You decide what you want to be. I trust these materials to do the work. I don’t trust myself to be a creator. I am not worthy. I don’t have power in this situation.”

Continued from Above:
Of course, you could sit by the wood and nails forever and nothing would happen with the creative medium. The same thing happens with prayers, when you leave your position as Co-creator to the subjective matter to provide your will. The job of the Co-creator is a similar job as the Creator. It is the microcosm in the macrocosm.
Even the bible says that (Hebrews 11:3):
“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.“
And in Romans 8:19-22:
“For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.”
Both of these scriptures tell of the history of creation and foretell of God’s sons and daughters one day accepting their spiritual domain, co-creators WITH GOD. All of creation is waiting for us—the children of God—to speak to the subjective ether and say:
“This earth is Peaceful! Negativity has no power over any of us! We have already overcome all that comes against us, simply because we now understand our power!”
The Buddhist principle is somewhat vague on the idea of creator. However, some philosophers speak of this creative ability and the ether as it pertains to the waiting of that human power to advance itself to become the great power of the world.
According to one doctrine, there is a great, self-existent deity whose substance is real and who is all-pervading, eternal, and the producer of all phenomena. This doctrine is unreasonable. If something produces something, it is not eternal, the non-eternal is not all-pervading, and what is not all-pervading is not real. If the deity’s substance is all-pervading and eternal, it must contain all powers and be able to produce all dharmas everywhere, at all times, and simultaneously. If he produces dharma when a desire arises, or according to conditions, this contradicts the doctrine of a single cause.
Or else, desires and conditions would arise spontaneously since the cause is eternal. Other doctrines claim that there is a great Brahma, a Time, a Space, a Starting Point, a Nature, an Ether, a Self, etc., that is eternal and really exists, is endowed with all powers, and is able to produce all dharmas. We refute all these in the same way we did the concept of the Great Lord.
I feel that Buddhism is more about teaching us the reality of our human existence and how to attain peace in the chaos, rather than showing us the power of attaining the understanding of becoming co-creators WITH God. For this reason, the Buddhist scriptures speak to the human condition, rather than the prophetic ideas that move the entire human existence into a new and peaceful paradigm.
In this way, Jesus the Master teacher can give us a greater understanding of our own creative abilities, as he says we will do much greater miracles than he had done.
In John 14:12 Jesus said:
“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
So, we must look at the stories of Jesus to help us understand how he used his own co-creative mind to teach us how to use ours. How did Jesus turn water into wine? How did he turn 5 loaves of bread into baskets of bread that fed 5000?
He imagined the truth. He used his mind to believe that the water was already wine, the bread was already enough to feed the masses. He prayed first, believing.
So, too, we must follow the steps of the Master Teacher to begin the learning process of becoming spiritual masters. You were created in the image of God, not to become subject to the earth, but to rule it! You don’t sit next to the building materials and expect them to magically become a house. You use the materials and your mind to construct the home of your dreams!
Meditate on this and start learning the spiritual lessons of the ages.
