Part III of “Fly as Fast as Thought” #soulflight #whatstrending #selfinquiry #spiritualliving

Last night I watched a documentary on Nova about CYBER AWARENESS and the latest research in keeping people out of your Internet property. The most interesting of the news was how the use of particle physics is now being used to find—what would have taken 10 computer a million years. This research is based on how observing matter actually changes it. Of course, I immediately, thought about how relevant this research is to prove our studies of meditation and the use our own observer mind in matters of changing the course or path in our lives.

Researchers show that 50,- to 70,000 thoughts go through any individual’s mind per day and 35 to 45 thoughts a minute surge through our busy brains. Yesterday, I posed the question: How do we control what comes in and out of our minds in any given minute? The change in the stimulus to the brain comes from two modalities: self-inquiry and meditation, which allows your mind to go from a cognitive, reasoning place (1 + 1 = 2) to a nonreactive place or the creative center of the brain (imagination) we’ll call the Observer Mind. Today, we’ll focus on meditation. Today we focus in on SELF-INQUIRY.

This process is much easier than you would imagine; however, you must be open to researching your own thoughts and their inceptions. For instance, you find yourself thinking about an old song from your childhood. In that moment, you may ask yourself, “What thoughts stimulated my pathway back to the memory of this particular song?” You discover these steps: You talked to an old friend who was with you on the day of your father’s funeral. On the way to the funeral the song played on the radio.

This is the simplest of self-inquiry. The matter of making substantial change in the mind takes actually CONFRONTING your own thought process with reason and UNIVERSAL LAW. Our minds memorize patterns of thought. In so doing, the mind wants to keep up with old patterns. But, once you OBSERVE A PATTERN, it’s likely to have to change.

Let’s try an example: You notice that every time your boyfriend talks about money, you get very anxious; so much so, that you start a fight to combat thinking about it and divert your attention. He points this out to you. You decide whether or not you want to look at this fact and observe it in yourself.

If you do, then the process of change can begin at this point. The next time you begin to talk about money with your boyfriend, you feel your own anxiety. This is the time to begin self-inquiry. Ask yourself: Why am I feeling this way? Where, in my body, do I feel something, and exactly how does it feel? Have I felt this feeling before and when?

All of these questions will hopefully lead you back to the inception of this pattern of thinking. When you discover the pattern, then it is likely possible to change the pattern with some help from a hypnotherapist, a life coach, or a psychologist who has been trained in hypnosis.

The reason why I’m limiting the practitioners to use is because the ones who are trained in changing neural pathway triggers have a special edge in helping your more quickly. If a therapist practices traditional psychology, he or she may not know the ins and outs of helping people change with modalities like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), IFS (Internal Family Systems), NLP (Neural Linguistic Programming, Timeline Therapy, and Anchoring.

All of the above modalities can help you make change much quicker than traditional talk therapy. In some cases, with only five sessions, the change needed in the brains processing center could successfully cause a different outcome; whereas, a client may take years in traditional talk therapy to get to the same scenario. If you would like to discuss your own issues with a professional, you can write to me at bosebastian5@gmail.com. I am trained in most of the above modalities, and I’m also a Life Coach. I work with my clients either on the phone or on Skype or Facetime. I’d love to help you out. My fees are generally lower than traditional therapy, as well.

Fly as Fast as Thought #soulflight #whatstrending #spiritualgrowth #spiritualliving #meditation #selfinquiry

Researchers show that 50,- to 70,000 thoughts go through any individual’s mind per day and 35 to 45 thoughts a minute surge through our busy brains. The question is: How many of these thoughts are initiated by our own consciousness, and how many are simply stimulus from outside events?

How do we control what comes in and out of our
minds in any given minute?

In the “2 Corinthians,” the apostle Paul says, “we must take every thought into captivity!” I wonder how anyone could consider 70,000 thoughts, let alone take each one into captivity. The answer lies somewhere in the concept of becoming the observer of one’s own thoughts and self-inquiry.

Thoughts and feelings fire from your brain for many different reasons and from various stimuli. Some we can control, but most we cannot. So, limiting the amount of thoughts that you actually accept as your own is the only concept I’d like to focus on. For instance, you are driving down the street. You see three people crossing in front of you at a light. A thug robs an elderly woman as you wait. What goes through your mind? Perhaps, a few different idea chase your attention.

  • Run down that thug with your car.
  • Go help the older woman.
  • Is anyone else watching and trying to help?
  • This isn’t my concern. I’m already late for work.
  • Should I get on the phone and call the police?

All of these thoughts may go through your mind at the same time. How do you figure out which on to focus on which ones to ignore? This is generally when anxiety begins to fill the mind, because of too many thoughts and too much stimuli. Add to this the fact that you, the driver, may have been robbed once yourself with a knife at your neck. Now you have a PTSD moment happening at the same time, which means your body may be reacting even before your thoughts have a chance to reach your deductive mind.

So, to expect a positive reaction to the scenario above would difficult if you have not spent many hours practicing the process of becoming an observer or your own thoughts. Also, you must learn to ask thoughts questions, as well, if they are guests knocking at the door of your mind. Do you really want to let the thought, “Run him over!” into your mind and accept it as your own?

Tune in tomorrow for more about this. Bo

Assumptions and Anxiety #assumptions #byronkatie #selfinquiry #anxiety #stress #spiritualadvice

A famous author, Byron Katie, wrote a book called “Loving What Is,” about self-inquiry that completely destroys the illusion of assumptions. The premise is that you ask yourself questions about your own assumptions by saying to yourself, “Do I really know this is true?”

If your mind is anything like mine, it says, “Of course, it’s true. I thought it. It must be true!”

Then you ask your mind again, with more authenticity, “Do you absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt know that this is what MY BOSS or MY PARTNER is thinking?”

Of course, no sane person without a crystal ball and Quaaludes can tell what another is thinking; so you have to admit to yourself that you are in the dark; that your assumptions are, at best, speculation; and that you are operating on a misinformed premise. When you get this far in the self-inquiry, Byron feels you must poke holes in your own premise even further. Turn the question around. “Why do you think this? Are you holding fear about something?”

Suddenly, your assumptions become a way to grow spiritual, and, perhaps, learn to operate on reality instead of something going on in your head that you’ve nurtured, grown, and even given the right to bear fruit.

Life is constantly handing us opportunities to grow. One important way to grow more authentically is to never make assumptions about anyone. You’ve heard the old saying, “When you assume, you make an ASS-U-ME.” Honestly, I think it makes an ass more of yourself, because the other person probably didn’t even consider what you were doing or thinking when you created an entire novel about a situation that had no bearing on the truth.

Today, try to go the day without assumptions. Even more importantly, if you feel someone has done something or feels something that has you wondering something negative, pick up the phone and call—or even better, pay them that important visit. Even if the person has an issue with you, you now have the perfect opportunity to make amends.
