A Slave to Illness #healthyliving #healingsickness #DivineMind #SpiritualLiving

Everywhere you look, sickness abides. It rests in small places, in physical bodies, in hospitals, and in entire countries. Illness has become a modern day reality. We all take a certain amount of pills or prophylaxis to prevent disease; but the reality in consciousness is: even if you do not have disease, you had better prevent its likelihood with this treatment or this perfect concoction of vitamins, so that you will not get sick.

However, the permeating thought in society is that we all possess or will possess sickness at some point. How do we circumvent this thought? Or is sickness simply a reality that me must deal with on a daily basis?

If I told you that I really do not know the answer to this, would you be surprised? I am so enslaved in my own aches and pains on a daily basis, that my one truth has become: “Just take your meds and be done with it! You will feel better, be able to function normally, and will not have to live an entire day in pain.”

This may be an unhealthy way of thinking, when I consider the spiritual wholeness of my own body. Even, I know this truth, as I take my daily pills. But, prior to my daily regimen of pills, I had spent 10-15 years trying every kind of yoga, meditation, holistic process, or vitamix to prevent and stop the continual pain manifesting in my body, but nothing worked. What a frustrating reality for me to realize that my BODY was simply acting on its own accord and dying like the rest of the world, one day at a time, getting closer to its own demise. Finally, my thought became, “You are wasting so much time feeling pain. Denying its presence. And trying to treat with so many hours of prayer, study, and diets. Why not just take some daily medication and feel better?”

When I came to this realization, I actually became a happier person. When I let go of the idea that I had to manifest health without help from any doctor or practitioner, I realized that I could live life with more ease, if I just looked after my own body as I did, say, my mother’s aging body. I would not think to tell my mother that she does not need her heart medication after having a triple bypass surgery. Certainly, I could see that even I may be subject to the very gene pool she had and my father, who died of heart disease and cancer.

My point is: I know that I AM NOT A BODY. However, I know that my Spirit—my essence—indeed, lives in a body. This body is human and it needs my care and, perhaps, the care of medical and holistic practitioners. I have come to the conclusion, from the point of my own amount of spiritual power to manifest perfect health that even the most adept teachers of spirituality have passed on and died of diseases that inflicted their bodies. Were they, too, taking pills? Or did they die because they refused to take pills? I cannot be sure.

However, I know, with certainty, what I feel about doctors and practitioners, as I have been a practitioner, myself, for many years. We need them to help us along our physical path as we learn to manifest health without the need of medicine on our spiritual path.

So, until, I know I can manifest health perfectly without the need of medication, I will be diligent in taking care of my own body with the means provided me by God, THROUGH caring practitioners.

Preparing for the Death of a Loved One!

Sometimes life hands us hard lessons in the form of death and sickness. But, we must always remember in those times that we are vessels of wholeness and love, no matter what we go through. Our affirmation is still the same. God is love and peace; therefore, I am love and peace!

When an impending death looms around you, the first obstacle is not to be sucked into the mire of depression and anxiety of those around you or into the pain of the person suffering. You will inevitably feel some of these human emotions, no matter what; but, stay focused on the purpose of your presence.

First, do you even know what are the intentions and desires of the person dying? Does he or she want to stay in an empty shell of a painful body—just for you? Or would he or she rather be released from that dying body and be in an eternal place of love and compassion—painfree?

My inclinations are that most souls would much rather meet God as the light, than stay in pain. Usually, and not always, the soul that is dying is very connected to those around him or her—friends, family, a particular loved one. So, a soul will often wait to depart until those around him want or allow the spirit to depart into the hands of the Ever-Loving Creator, even though they are in incredible pain.

The second thing we must always desire to be is: God’s purpose. You would not be praying amiss if you would ask God and the Universe what it is for you to do in the moment.

Maybe you just need to sit there silently, allowing a love one to grieve. Maybe you need to be the voice of reason: “It would be okay for you to let go now! _________ is in the loving hands of God, ready to depart this pain.” Or, maybe you just need to weep, as the tears are symbols of cleansing for your own soul and those around you.

In summary, death, no matter if it is an actual person or the death of a job or relationship, grief is inevitable. But, more importantly, as you grow in your spiritual health, you must realize that “all things are happening in accordance to the perfect will of God.” Not just some things, but all things! So, recognize this in your affirmations.

Because God is always peace, I am peace too. Since God is always love and forgiveness, then, I, too, am love and forgiveness, no matter the situation!

Conversations with the Sick and Dying – Part I

Conversations with the Sick and Dying — Part I

Never in my life have I been more enlightened than in the presence of someone who is days away from death. Also, people who have deadly illnesses and fight and overcome, have stories that will always amaze me. This is why it is important to balance life with not only the healthy and wonderful friends we have, but also those who are in need of our help. Because from the very mouth of insurmountable struggle, comes divine wisdom—wisdom and insight we all need to bring us closer to Truth.

I talk about my friend Linda a lot who died with stage 4 colon cancer a couple years ago. We had a date every couple weeks to talk on the phone, because after she moved from Nashville, she lived in places that were a little too far for me to travel. At long last, she ended up in Lexington, where she wrote law for the Kentucky legislature, which was an interesting job for a lawyer with an English degree as well.

Linda was one of my dearest friends, though we spent very little physical time together after she left Nashville. So, the last ten years of our friendship was our dates on the telephone. Her desire to keep in touch and to fill an hour with catching up on what really mattered in life was always worth it.

I’m not one to talk on the phone for a long period of time. But with Linda, I made the effort, because we shared from the deepest place of our hearts. We talked of spiritual things and always met at a place of pure authenticity.

So, when she was dying, the last two years of our conversations were like reading the bible. Every word came from a place of vast learning and divine lessons that could only be taught by God. I remember the last week before she died, I called her sister. She told me that Linda didn’t have the strength to talk on the phone. In fact, she was restricting visitors as well to only those who had very strong belief that she could get well.

But for some strange reason, I called her hospital room anyway. After two rings, she picked up. She knew it was me and knew it would be our last conversation. She didn’t have much energy and could barely hold the phone up to her ear, but every word she said was like it proceeded from mouth of God.

She spoke of her vane attempt at trying to get better, even though that was not what God had intended. She told me of the pain she had to face when she realized that there was no time now to really live life, now that she had wasted it working while she was trying to recover (she worked up until her last six months).

She asked me to pray with her. She said she had to be quiet because it hurt to talk. I remember the prayer: “God, touch Linda right now. Take away all the pain so that she can only feel your loving arms around her. Allow her to bask in the silence and peace of your presence and know that she is loved. Help her to remember that when you carry her from this life to the next that there will be divine purpose for her in the next life and on—”

I remember hearing the telephone fall to the floor and a nurse scramble to pick it up. That was the last I spoke to Linda before she passed.

I share this story because in my life, it seems, that God has sent a lot of people to me to work through issues before they die. In fact, one of the things I do as a practitioner is help people who are in palliative care pass over. It’s a beautiful job when I’m appointed to help. You end up spending a lot of time with angels.

The last person I aided in this process had a large brain tumor. Her diagnoses would usually mean that she would be in pretty severe pain and uncomfortable. But this form of hypnosis we were using kept her from having any pain at all. At least she told me that she had no pain all the way until her death.

The interesting thing about the last person I helped was she was Atheist and had no real belief that she would go on spiritually. So, I had to design a way of helping her feel as if she would be remembered in the things that were left by her. I helped her design a way to imagine that she would become fluid with the earth and in her passing could remain a reminder to her family, especially her two daughters that she was there in the rain and in the mountains, in the special things that they shared together (trips to special places, beaches, ski trips). She felt such comfort in knowing that her memory would carry her existence forward.

I wonder if that’s why people are so concerned about having a grave marker the size of a small city or having large funerals. For me, I just want to pass quietly and have my body cremated. I think my ashes would be greatly appreciated in my favorite place, my garden.

I don’t believe our physical bodies come back to meet our spirits ever. I think our physical bodies decay and go back to the earth, because that is where they came from.

Our spiritual bodies, however, are heavenly and celestial; therefore, we go on into the stars and into the forever with spirit, which is everlasting—from age to age.
